
Blackrock schools rugby tournament
The 32nd edition of the Blackrock schools rugby tournament takes place on Saturday 24 May at the St. Mary’s School in Nairobi. Defending champions Maseno, hosts St. Mary’s, Lenana, Nairobi School, RVA are part of the 24 teams lined up to play on Saturday.
Speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday morning, Tournament Co-ordinator Gregory Sang’ said, ” This is the 32nd edition of the tournament, and it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of St. Mary’s School. This tournament has nurtured produced great talent over the years and we hope to see more great talent come through. MVPs from this tournament have gone on to achievement greatness in the game, players like Innocent Simiyu, Biko Adema, Allan Hicks, David Ambunya to name but a few have all showcased their talent here en route to being household names and regular faces in the Kenyan national teams over the years.”
Sang’ also spoke about plans to grow the tournament, saying, ” We have in the past had teams from Zimbabwe and Uganda participating, and as we look at the long run, we would like to make it a regional affair.”
He also thanked Coca- Cola, Kenafric Industries and Resolution Insurance for their sponsorship packages geared towards ensuring Saturday’s event was a success.
The tournament will run from 9.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday 24 May 2014 at the St. Mary’s School in Nairobi. Gate Charges are Ksh 100 for students, Ksh 200 for adults.
